A Bit About My Story
My inspiration for Public Relations started early at 11 a.m. on Saturday's watching the Discovery channel "Jack Hanna's Wild Countdown" and "Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin". These educational shows explored the wildlife, ocean animals, and the behind the scenes work on the preservation and rehabilitation of these animals at the Georgia Aquarium. As my first love was always Marine Biology, these shows inspired me personally to not just explore the world but sparked my interest in wanting to share the journey to others through media.
My journey as a writer began in the sixth grade when I wrote and performed my first poem. What started as a creative way to express myself quickly became a passion for storytelling. That passion continued throughout my four years at Durham School of the Arts, where I studied Creative Writing and explored poetry, short stories, novels, and screenplays.
When I began my journey at North Carolina A&T State University, I wanted to expand my creativity into professional communication. As a Journalism and Mass Communications student concentrating in Public Relations, courses such as Writing and Reporting and Public Relations Writing have taught me how to adapt my voice for different audiences and purposes. My writing has grown from creative storytelling into news writing, public relations materials, research, and strategic communication.
This portfolio represents that growth. Each piece highlights a different part of my development as a writer and reflects my ability to combine creativity, strategy, and storytelling as I prepare for a career in public relations and communications.
